An all-day Exotica-themed Christmas-holiday shopping and entertainment experience. It’s a mini-EXOTIKON Festival with all the trimmings!
WHAT?
This is a FULL DAY with non-stop activities and entertainment. We’ll have unique vendors for that special holiday gift shopping you won’t find at Walmart or Amazon. We’ll have CHRISTMAS TIKI & EXOTICA tunes spinning all day. We’ll have TWO incredible XYMPOSIUMS presentations on EXOTICA. TIKI COCKTAILS (yes, WE HAVE A LIQUOR LICENSE!) served up from the world famous (and oldest TIKI BAR in LA) TONGA HUT! And, a LIVE MUSICAL PERFORMANCE you WON’T WANT TO MISS!
WHERE?
We at EXOTIKON are very proud to announce the show will be held at the HISTORIC MAYAN THEATER in Downtown Los Angeles! Built in 1927, it is truly one of the most amazing ORIGINAL Exotica venues creating the type of unforgettable immersive environment Peekaboo Gallery is known for.
Parking is easy with three big parking lots within a block of the venue with one literally across the street. Downtown is very easy to access on the weekend, especially Sunday.

• TWO EXOTICA XYMPOSIUMS: Two encore presentations from our EXOTIKON this Summer
1) The AZTEC MOTEL and OTHER MAYANISMS live from the HISTORIC MAYAN THEATER: Sven Kirsten will reveal a largely forgotten chapter of America’s fascination with Pre-Columbiana that brought forth splendid Mayan and Aztec temples in urban centers all across the United States. A treasure trove of previously unseen images from this fervent but brief love affair with the sunken civilizations of the Americas will lead up to the further exploration of mid-century Exotica in this unique pop culture genre.
2) YMA SUMAC: The Queen of EXOTICA with DAMON DEVINE: Explore the fascinating story of one of the most unique performers of all time! There is perhaps no single character in the World of Exotica that compares with the larger-than-life personality, idiosyncrasy and sheer talent of Yma Sumac. Dive deep into the diva’s archives with rare audio and film footage and view in person an incredible display of her personal fashion and artifacts direct from the Sumac estate.

MAMBO DIABOLICO’s RISE of the SUN GODDESS: A YMA SUMAC Concert Experience!
A “last chance” to see the hit musical act from EXOTIKON ONE! Prolific film composer, EGO PLUM and his full orchestra will recreate an evening with South American songstress, YMA SUMAC on stage. Vocalist, LENA MARIE CARDINALE has what it takes to carry the torch of Yma’s incredible vocal prowess. This show was the talk of EXOTIKON this past June and visitors will have one final chance to experience the magic. Several new Christmas-themed songs will be presented from an imaginary YMA SUMAC CHRISTMAS ALBUM!
